MARS' Excellent GA Adventure
- Posted by Pat Arnold on April 28th, 2008
The 2008 GA Championship was amazing. This was the 3rd time that our 4 year old team was able to attend and compete. Hats off to all.
Highlights included visiting the GA Aquarium (the world's largest!), hearing President George Bush (Sr.) speak, autographs with Apple's Steve Wozniak & MIT instructor Woodie Flowers, attending valuable workshops on how to impress the judges at Chairman's presentations & on how to use Autodesk software, and meeting or renewing friendships with other FRC teams. A new West Va. team introduced themselves & shared laughs & team momentos; they had named themselves MARS (the abreviation of their school name) & quickly learned in GA that we already existed with that identity. Scholarship row was informative, the CIA gave out some great hat pins, and tons of free stuff was collected.
MARS' "Track-A-Pult" robot was speedier on the field, but continued to have difficulties hurdling. We finished respectably in the "middle of the pack" on the very "stacked" Galileo field (many on Chief Delphi suggested it had the toughest group of competitiors; and the Einstein Championship Winners were the Galileo Division winners!). MARS students worked hard on field & off, and did more dancing & displayed greater spirit than ever! See Photos in our gallery: http://www.marsbot.org/index.php?q=gallery&g2_itemId=30854
Congratulations on another amazingly successful season & on winning Florida's 2008 Chairman's Award. MARS has much to celebrate at this year's End-of-the-Year Social.
